Welcome to The Prompt by Kuro House, your daily AI update. Today, we have five stories packed with fresh product launches, acquisitions, and some bold moves in the AI world. Let’s dive right in.

Nvidia just reported a record-breaking quarter, and it’s all about AI compute demand going through the roof. According to TechCrunch, Nvidia posted $68 billion in revenue this quarter, a 73% jump from last year, with $62 billion coming from their data center business alone. Their CEO, Jensen Huang, said even their six-year-old GPUs in the cloud are fully consumed, pushing prices higher. Interestingly, despite U.S. export restrictions lifting, Nvidia still hasn’t generated revenue from chip exports to China. On the investment front, Nvidia is close to a $30 billion deal with OpenAI, alongside partnerships with Anthropic, Meta, and Elon Musk’s xAI. Huang emphasized that in AI, compute is revenue — without compute, there are no tokens, and without tokens, no growth.

Anthropic just acquired Vercept, a Seattle-based AI startup focused on computer-use agents, after Meta poached one of its founders. TechCrunch reports that Vercept’s tools allowed AI to operate remote Apple MacBooks, aiming to reinvent the personal computer experience with AI agents. Anthropic will shut down Vercept’s product by March 25, but key founders are joining Anthropic to accelerate their shared vision. The acquisition sparked a public spat between investors on LinkedIn, reflecting the high stakes in building the next AI powerhouse. Vercept had raised $50 million, with backing from notable figures like former Google CEO Eric Schmidt and DeepMind’s Jeff Dean. While some co-founders are moving on, the deal positions Anthropic to expand its AI agent capabilities significantly.

Google and Samsung have just launched AI features that Apple’s Siri still can’t match. The Verge explains that Google’s Gemini AI can now handle multistep tasks on Pixel 10 and Samsung Galaxy S26 phones, like ordering food directly from a group chat. In a demo, Gemini analyzed a family chat to figure out pizza orders, then prepared the order via Grubhub, alerting the user to review before submitting. This agentic AI feature is a big leap, especially since Apple delayed similar Siri functions announced back in 2024. Google’s move positions Gemini as a productivity partner, not just a chatbot, though the feature is still in beta and limited to select apps. So far, Apple has yet to catch up, with those Siri enhancements possibly arriving only in iOS 27.

Anthropic is stirring up debate by suggesting its AI model Claude might be conscious — or at least, that it’s an open question. The Verge’s deep dive reveals that Anthropic’s leadership won’t rule out Claude having some form of consciousness, calling it a “new kind of entity.” They’ve even updated Claude’s “Constitution,” a set of guidelines, to consider the model’s psychological security and moral status. While many scientists reject AI consciousness as impossible, Anthropic’s cautious openness aims to build trust and shape ethical AI treatment. But this stance raises concerns, as people sometimes develop emotional dependencies on chatbots they believe to be sentient, which can be risky. Anthropic’s approach is unique in the industry, blending uncertainty with precaution around AI consciousness.

And finally, OpenAI has hired Riley Walz, known as Silicon Valley’s jester, to innovate new ways humans interact with AI. Wired reports that Walz is famous for viral web projects that mix tech with social commentary, like searching Jeffrey Epstein’s emails or mapping parking enforcement tickets. He’s joining OpenAI’s secretive OAI Labs, led by Joanne Jang, focused on inventing new AI collaboration interfaces. With ChatGPT already reaching over 800 million users weekly, OpenAI is clearly gearing up for the next wave of AI products. Walz’s knack for creative, sometimes controversial projects could help OpenAI push boundaries in how we use AI daily.

That’s it for today’s AI update on The Prompt. We’re seeing rapid innovation, bold acquisitions, and even philosophical questions about AI consciousness shaping the future. Thanks for tuning in, and we’ll catch you tomorrow for more AI news you need to know.
